A comprehensive exam is the foundation of good oral health. It includes a clinical evaluation of your teeth, gums, and mouth, along with necessary radiographs.
The type and number of radiographs vary based on your dental needs and the dentist’s recommendations.
Exams are typically followed by a cleaning. Based on your gum, bone, and overall oral health, your dentist will recommend the most appropriate type of cleaning. In some cases, such as significant buildup or deep gum pockets, a deeper cleaning called scaling and root planing may be needed.
Dr. Diana Pham carefully reviews all findings and radiographs with you to ensure you fully understand your diagnosis and treatment options.
-
Dental fillings are commonly recommended to treat small to medium cavities or to repair minor tooth damage.
The most common material is composite resin—a tooth-colored filling that bonds naturally to your tooth. Another option is amalgam, a durable silver-colored material that has been used safely in dentistry for many years and may be recommended in certain cases.
Sealants are a preventive treatment that protect teeth with deep grooves and pits, which are more prone to cavities. While often used for children, adults can benefit from sealants as well.
Dr. Diana Pham will help you choose the best filling material for your needs and review the benefits of each option with you.

Removable prosthetics are one of Dr. Diana Pham’s favorite treatments and offer flexible solutions for patients missing one, several, or all teeth.
Removable partial dentures (RPDs) replace multiple missing teeth and are available in metal, acrylic, or flexible designs. Complete dentures are recommended when all teeth are missing in one or both arches and are typically made of acrylic, with options for added strength.
Designing a well-fitting, natural-looking prosthetic requires precision and expertise. Dr. Diana Pham specializes in removable prosthetics and is dedicated to achieving comfortable, functional, and aesthetic results while setting clear, realistic expectations for every patient.
-
Bridges (fixed partial dentures) and dental implants are popular options for replacing one or more missing teeth. Both are “fixed,” meaning they cannot be removed by the patient.
Bridges are secured to adjacent teeth, while implants are surgically placed into the jawbone with an abutment and crown on top.
Each option has its own benefits and limitations. Not every patient is a candidate for both, and not every clinical situation warrants a bridge and/or implant. Dr. Diana Pham takes time to educate patients using models, photos, and other tools so they can make informed decisions.
Above all, Dr. Pham values patient autonomy and believes in empowering patients to choose what’s best for their oral health.

Tooth extractions may be recommended for teeth that are painful, infected, loose, or impacted.
A comprehensive exam with radiographs is essential to determine the best course of treatment. Dr. Diana Pham practices conservative dentistry and will always review all possible options before considering extraction, as it is an irreversible procedure.
If an extraction is necessary, it’s important to plan for what comes next—how it may affect your smile, chewing, and surrounding teeth, as well as replacement options like implants or other restorations.
Dr. Diana Pham takes the time to address all your concerns and help you make an informed decision.
-
Implant-supported prosthetics are one of Dr. Diana Pham’s top treatment options. They are designed to replace missing teeth, as well as supporting structures like gums and bone, using dental implants.
While these options share similarities, there are important differences that can impact which is best for you. Careful evaluation and clear understanding of these differences are essential.
Patients considering implant prosthetics can benefit from seeing a prosthodontist, who has additional advanced training in implant rehabilitation.
Dr. Diana Pham takes the time to explain all options and helps determine which treatment best fits each patient’s needs.

Whether you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, are undergoing treatment, or are in recovery, dental care plays an important role in preventing complications.
A dental exam before starting cancer treatment is highly recommended. Based on your diagnosis and your oncologist’s plan, Dr. Diana Pham may suggest preventive or necessary dental treatment beforehand—for example, extractions prior to head and neck radiation.
With advanced training from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Oral Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthetics, Dr. Pham is experienced in helping patients safely navigate dental care throughout their cancer journey.
-
Maxillofacial prosthetics go beyond replacing missing teeth—they help restore essential functions like speech, chewing, swallowing, and overall quality of life.
Only a small number of specially trained prosthodontists provide these advanced services in private practice.
At Narrative Dentistry, we offer a range of maxillofacial prosthetics, including maxillary obturators, mandibular resection prosthetics, palatal augmentation prosthetics, and fluoride carriers.
